The “bi” prefix is such an integral of our lives today (Bilingual, Bicultural, Bisexual…uf) and Satellite District understand that very well. These Atlanta boys have released an interesting EP that is not only “bi” but in many instances “multi”. Their production is impeccable, with their U2/The Killers-like sound and songwriting skills. Furthermore, their bilingual status and display puts them in a great new platform of up-and coming bands from different parts of the states that embrace their affinity for Indie rock from a Hispanic background perspective such as Los Hollywood, Montenegro and others.
Sometimes Muse, sometimes Zoe, sometimes Interpol, and sometimes even Soda Stereo, Satellite District are here to seriously make people want to listen more. Track highlights: “New World” is a great single and this EP includes a Spanish version (“Busca el amor”) that does not lose anything in translation. Other great tracks are “Traveling through time” and “Particulas”. Satellite District has a strong connection with South Florida as some members started with the guys from the always remembered duo/band Diestra, who suffered the loss of one of his members to a car accident a couple of years ago.
This is great music from serious musicians. Let’s hope to catch Satellite District down here in So FL soon. In the meantime, look for their music and download it. You won’t regret it.
